The Jan 22nd Challenge - Recommit to Your New Year's Resolutions/Goals

If you are a Steven Covey disciple or just someone who is in tune with popular media, you know that it takes 21 days to create a habit. So ask yourself right now, how many of your 2019 New Year’s Resolutions are still unbroken on day 22? I have to admit, celebrating a January birthday really hurts my chances of success on my diet goals, but I am restarting today and expect great outcomes.

Why did I just share that with you? In my experience, I have found that when you put your goals out to the “universe” and tell the world, they usually help you achieve them. Just last week a student of mine shared his start-up business goals with a speaker, and that speaker hired him to use his service on the spot. This happens all the time. People generally want to feel helpful and support you in your betterment quest.

So, recommit to your goals by:

  1. Making them SMART – specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely.
  2. Create an action plan that details the who, what, where, when and how you will achieve each goal. Think of 2-4 actions items for each.
  3. Write this down and look it over daily to keep you focused achieving them.
  4. Tell the world so they can help you succeed.

This process works with individual, group or business goals. If you want to learn more about this process, join me next Thursday, January 31st, from 1-3 pm at Roy Schmidt Honda, 1705 W. Fayette Ave., Effingham, Illinois and we will give you tools to help you achieve your goals. My goal is to double the number of participants that attended my last session. I will achieve this by writing a blog, sharing information on social media, and inviting nonprofits personally within the next week. So come on universe, help me make it happen!
