Take a Breather

Take a breath, slow down, and breathe.

Simple yet powerful.

Our brains need oxygen to function.  When we’re tense we breathe in a shallow way or hold our  breath. When we’re tired we yawn as our bodies force us to inhale deeply.  Unconsciously  we’re working to give our brains what it needs to be alert.

Breathing deeply wakes us up and relaxes us.  Yes it can do both and when we relax, it’s easier to think clearly.

So try this next time you need a breather.

Breath in for a count of 4, hold it for a count  of 7, exhale for a count of 8, repeat.  Careful, it can make you dizzy.  Do this 6-10 times and see how you feel.  I’m guessing great!

What breathing exercises do you do?
