4 Great Basketball Quotes That Apply to Business

Last night was a great night for basketball. Two teams gave it their all in the hopes to be crowned the NCAA National Champion. There was not one, but two phenomenal Hail Mary three pointers in the final seconds of the game.  Alas, there can only be one winner. Congrats to Villanova Wildcats!

March Madness is officially over so it’s back to work for everyone. But before we turn our thoughts away from basketball, I thought you might want to savor the end of the season with four quotes from basketball legends. These apply not only to the sport, but to business as well.

“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” – Michael Jordan.

“A basketball team is like the five fingers on your hand. If you can get them all together, you have a fist. That’s how I want you to play.” – Mike Krzyzewski

“My father made me who I am. He gave me a basketball and told me to play with the ball, sleep with the ball, dream with the ball. Just don’t take it to school. I used it as a pillow, and it never gave me a stiff neck.” Shaquille O’Neal

“I think the most important thing about coaching is that you have to have a sense of confidence about what you’re doing. You have to be a salesman, and you have to get your players, particularly your leaders, to believe in what you’re trying to accomplish on the basketball floor.” – Phil Jackson

Teamwork, focus, confidence and faith are all skills that leaders need to instill in their team to win whether the battle is waged on the basketball court or in the business world.
